About Providence University (OYVT) Program

Providence University Overseas Youth Vocational Training(OYVT) Program has been in operation for 14 sessions , since the establishment of the 25th   Cosmetic and  Applied Cosmetology  management course in 2006 .There are presently 238 students enrolled in OYVT program and a total of 842 graduates .Overseas Chinese student who are interested in learning an expertise are encourage to  apply this program.

The Beginning Of PU OYVTS 

Introduction

There is a large group of Overseas Chinese communities, especially in Southeast Asia. After the World War II has finally come to an end, the international status remains the same. As a result, there is a growing demand for experts in the field of Education, culture and business among the overseas Chinese. Therefore, the purpose of OYVT program is to help Overseas Chinese youth in learning traditional culture of their roots and to train their manufacturing skills which enables them to contribute their knowledge in their country of residence. Furthermore, this aids in the stabilization of overseas Chinese’s position in their home country, which in turns promotes the development of industrial and economic. As a consequence, these countries have developed a close partnership and expanding their trade relations with Taiwan.

History 

Overseas youth vocational training (OYVT) program was launched by the OCAC in 1963. In the past 50 years, this program has a total of 15,247 students from 39 countries such as Malaysia and others.

Regulation

Objective:  To provide training includes practical knowledge and manufacturing skills in the sector of agriculture, industrial, business, politics etc. In order to promote the economy in their local countries.

Advantage of OYVT program:  All the training in this program are categorized accordingly to individual professions and mainly focus on the practical needs in different occupation. The practical class in the Agriculture course will be 70% and the remaining 30% will be lecture classes. On the other hand, for the business course will focus on both categories ensuring the students graduate with the skills that could be useful in their profession.

Program Structure :  Each courses can be completed in 2 years ,with 4 semester (inclusive of internship )

Entrance Requirements

a.    Must at least be in 2nd year of high school or above 
b.    Under the age of 40
c.    Identity as an overseas Chinese
d.    Female applicants with children are able to make a two- year extension per child to the age of 45. (Kindly submit supporting documents)
e.    Born in foreign country with citizenship or a permanent residency of other country, or  with an endorsement as an overseas resident in the passport of the Republic China from Taiwan 
f.    Must meet the health requirements of Taiwan and has a decent character with no unhealthy behaviors
g.    Ability to speak and write in Mandarin 
*Those who are qualified from the above requirements may apply for the OYVT program. Please be reminded that this is a merit-based selection and has a limited enrollment quota

Cost of studying in Taiwan

Students must be able to afford miscellaneous fee which included medical insurance , National Health insurance , food , housing, material for class , airfare ,etc 
*Provides Tuition waiver if the student are sponsor by the OCAC(with terms and condition) 

Scholarship and Subsidies

a. Scholarship for Outstanding Academic performance
b. Subsidy for part – time job in campus
c. Subsidy for National Health Insurance
d. Subsidy for school and bonding activities of the OYVT program students
e. Subsidy for medical emergency 
f. Subsidy for graduation ceremony , school exhibitions and farewell activities

Graduation Certificate

 At the end of the program ,students who fulfilled the credits requirements will be entitled a certificate of  overseas youth vocational training program graduate diploma in Mandarin and English which issued by the Universities where they participated. (with the terms and conditions of the Universities regulations)
